Makai Keur gained his passion for music from the age of 5 when he started playing piano. He found a calm in learning and mastering new instruments, 14 to date. In 2017 He jumped at the chance accepting the role of Music Director for a musical theater company and thus opened a door to his love of theater & film scoring. Makai has since penned a musical and countless scores.
Since the start of high school, Makai has been mentored by Jim Grey, Music Director of the Nashville Pops Orchestra and head arranger/ composer for the Nashville and Oklahoma City Orchestras. As copyist, Makai has been able to work for such artists as Katy Perry, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Josh Groban and the 2017 Presidential Inaugural Ball to name a few. He has worked with Jim in the studio as well as rehearsals and performances for the Nashville Pops.
Makai’s love of musicals, in both live and film, have led him to pursue a career and life built around creating future works to move people. After graduating from Centennial High School he would like to study Music Arranging & Composition, He has already co-written and composed and work shopped a musical. Now in the process of recording the full project, Makai has written, arranged and recorded for an apocalyptic short film. He continues to direct and play professionally in and around Nashville for theaters & recording studios.
When Makai is not pursuing his love of music, he is spending time with his parents and three younger siblings, or his friends. He loves movies, books, theater, and art of any kind.
